Squad leadership
I lead development squads: technical decisions, backlog prioritization, team coordination and talent development.
Systems Manager · Technical leadership · 20+ years in IT
I'm William Cleisson de Carvalho, Systems Manager at Ânima Educação, one of Brazil's largest higher-education groups. I started as a developer and moved through systems analysis, data science and tech lead roles into management. Today I bring together business vision, architecture and delivery to modernize critical systems without stopping operations.

Over more than 20 years, I have built systems for nearly every area of a company: finance, accounting, HR, procurement, marketing and administration. I know the business from the inside because I have automated each of those routines. I turn strategy into code and code into results, speaking the language of both the engineering team and every business area.
I lead development squads: technical decisions, backlog prioritization, team coordination and talent development.
I build new products, maintain and evolve modern applications and, when needed, lead the modernization of legacy systems without stopping operations.
Designing microservice and API-based architectures and integrating internal systems, ERPs and third-party platforms.
Reducing technical debt, continuous integration and delivery, test automation and practices that lower long-term risk.
Hands-on experience as a data scientist: pipelines, analytical models and dashboards that turn system data into decisions.
I use generative AI daily in development and management, with coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex, to speed up delivery, review code and write documentation.
Every step of my education came from a real need at work. Together, they form a rare profile: a solid technical foundation combined with business, data and product thinking.
I started working in IT before I turned 16. The technical course turned a calling into a profession, and my degree built the foundation for a career in the field.
I deepened my software engineering skills and began preparing to lead teams and technical decisions, seeing IT as part of the company's strategy.
I wanted to speak the language of business teams and see the product's end result: buying experience, lead generation, SEO, paid traffic and conversion. I started building systems with both sellers and buyers in mind.
The more results I delivered, the more I wanted them to be predictable. I moved into data science and applied it in practice to turn data into decisions instead of guesses.
By then I was no longer just "the IT guy": I was a technologist who understands business. I closed the loop with management, innovation and digital products, the areas that drive me.
Not to do everything myself, but to speak as an equal with every area, build the right team and know whether each part is truly delivering.
More than 20 years of career, often with several fronts running in parallel.
Alongside my leadership career, I take on development projects as an independent contractor, with scope, timeline and price agreed before we start. You work directly with me, from quote to delivery.
